Bacterial Infection in the Colon
Patients with a bacterial infection in the colon are at an increased risk when using this medicine. Such patients may experience worsening of the bacterial infection on using this medicine. Patients should discontinue this medicine and should be treated with proper fluids,
minerals management,
antibiotic treatment and protein supplementation as clinically indicated.
Undergoing Quinolones Drug Therapy
Patients taking quinolones are at increased risk when using this medicine. These patients are at an increased risk of central nervous system effects, fatal allergic reactions along with
seizures, low blood pressure, tingling,
hives, and symptoms of nerve injury (neuropathy). Such patients should discontinue this medicine on the appearance of symptoms of neuropathy and at the first appearance of a skin rash or any other sign of
allergy. Treatment of serious allergic reaction include
antihistamines,
corticosteroids, pressor amines, epinephrine drug therapy along with oxygen, intravenous fluids, and airway management, as recommended by the doctor.
History of Tendon Disorders
Patients with a history of tendon disorders such as swollen and painful joints (rheumatoid
arthritis) are at an increased risk when using this medicine. Such patients may have an increased risk of
tendinitis and tendon rupture. The patient should discontinue this medicine on an increase in
pain, swelling, inflammation or rupture of a tendon. Patients should rest at the first sign of
tendinitis or tendon rupture and should contact the doctor for changing their medicine.
Kidney Failure
Patients with kidney failure are at an increased risk when using this medicine. Such patients may have an increased risk of
tendinitis and tendon rupture. The patient should discontinue this medicine on an increase in
pain, swelling, inflammation or rupture of a tendon. Patients should rest at the first sign of
tendinitis or tendon rupture and should contact the doctor for changing their medicine.
Performing Difficult Physical Activity
Patients performing difficult physical activity are at an increased risk when using this medicine. Such patients may have an increased risk of
tendinitis and tendon rupture. The patient should discontinue this medicine on an increase in

Lung Transplantation

Patients Over 60 Years
Elderly patients are at an increased risk when using this medicine. Such patients may have an increased risk of
tendinitis and tendon rupture. This medicine should be discontinued on an increase in swelling,
pain, inflammation or rupture of a tendon. Rest is advised to the patients at the first sign of
tendinitis or tendon rupture and contact the doctor for changing their medicine.
Gonorrhea with Symptoms of Syphilis
Patients with this condition are at an increased risk when using this medicine. Zanocin OD has not been shown to be effective in the treatment of bacterial infection spread by sexual contact (
syphilis). Patients using Zanocin OD for
gonorrhea should have a blood test for syphilis. After three months of treatment of
gonorrhea, patients should again undergo for a blood test for syphilis. If the blood test is positive, then treatment with suitable medicine should be continued.
Central Nervous System (CNS) Disorder
Patients with central nervous system disorder such as the blockage in the blood vessels of the brain and
epilepsy or other risk factors such as certain drug therapy and kidney dysfunction are at an increased risk when using this medicine. These patients are more prone to
seizures on using this medicine. Such patients should use this medicine cautiously.
Abnormal Liver Function
Patients with abnormal liver function are at an increased risk when using this medicine. These patients are at an increased risk of liver damage and inflammation of the liver which may lead to liver failure when using this medicine. Such patients are advised to stop taking this medicine and contact their doctor on symptoms of liver disease such as loss of desire to eat,
jaundice, dark urine, abdominal
pain and
itching.
Use in Women
Women are at an increased risk when using this medicine. These patients are more sensitive to the medicine-associated with heart conditions such as
palpitations. Such patients should use this medicine cautiously.
Heart Disease
Patients with heart failure, heart attack and slow heart rate are at increased risk when using this medicine. Such patients are at an increased risk of
palpitations when using this medicine. These patients should use this medicine cautiously.
