Fitbit, the popular maker of wearables has announced the release of Fitbit OS 3.0. The new OS provides better user experience and improvements to Fitbit smartwatches. Improvements include:
- New developer APIs including Fitbit Exercise API and open-source developer tools to allow building new apps for Fitbit smartwatches.
- Female Health Tracking including a comprehensive view of menstrual cycle data including trends will launch in the Fitbit app in early 2019.
- The new software shows more personal data at-a-glance and allows for quicker logging. This includes sleep data, exercise views, water intake logging, and weight logging.
- New apps for health, fitness, lifestyle and smart home along with additions to the Fitbit App Gallery have been announced. New developer apps Alpine Snow and Skateboard launch have launched.
It will be interesting to watch the impact of this release on the financials of Fitbit, which is currently trading near its all-time low of $4.62.
