Zenaro Syrup is used to relieve seasonal and year-round allergies. This medicine works by blocking certain organic substances, called histamines, in the brain and other areas of the body. Zenaro is also used to treat severe allergies due to food, medicines, or other causes. This medicine helps by treating the symptoms of the allergic reaction including skin rashes.
Antihistamines
Zenaro belongs to a class of medicines called Antihistamines. Antihistamines help in relieving allergic symptoms. They do so by blocking the effects of histamines. Histamines are produced by the body and in-turn cause fever, itching, sneezing, a runny nose, or watery eyes in allergic conditions.

How to use

Read the medicine guide provided by your pharmacist, your doctor, or the medicine company. If you have any questions related to Zenaro, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Use Zenaro Syrup as per the instructions provided by your doctor.
Zenaro is consumed with or without food. Take this medicine as a single dose. Zenaro is consumed usually in the evening. This is because Zenaro may cause dizziness.

Typical Dosage

The typical dose of Zenaro for adults is 5 mg once a day. The usual dose for children is 2.5 mg once a day. Zenaro is commonly used at the same time every day. It takes 1 hour for this medicine to start its action. This medicine is not known to be addictive or habit-forming.
This medicine should be used on an as-needed basis. If used for the treatment of allergies, the medicine can be stopped once the symptoms have disappeared and can be restarted again if symptoms reappear. If you experience symptoms for more than four days a week or for more than four weeks a year, your doctor may ask you to continue the treatment. Your treatment may continue as long as you are exposed to substances that cause your allergy.
If using the liquid form of this medicine, measure the dose using the provided measuring cup, spoon, or dropper. Before pouring the medicine into the measuring device, you should check the measurement markings carefully. Then, pour the dose amount into the device. After use, clean and store the measuring device in a safe place for your next use. You should not use a tablespoon or teaspoon as the dose measuring devices since it can result in an incorrect dose. If indicated on the product package, shake the medicine before use.

Talk to Your Doctor

Discuss with your doctor if your condition does not improve. If you have any kidney disease, a low dose of Zenaro will usually be given.
Taking a higher dose of this medicine may increase the risk of side-effects. Older patients may see an increase in the incidence of side-effects. As a result, a lower dose may be recommended for older patients.

Use in Children

If you are giving Zenaro Syrup to a child, be sure to use a product that is for use in children. Use the child's weight or age to find the right dose from the product package or medicine label. Avoid Alcohol

Avoid consuming alcohol together with Zenaro.

How to take Zenaro

Overdose

Precautions while using Zenaro

Before you use Zenaro, tell your doctor of your medical and health history including the following:
The risk of side-effects is higher in patients with kidney disease.
Before you use Zenaro, tell your doctor if you are allergic to it or its ingredients. Your doctor may prescribe an alternative medicine and update your medical records to record this information.
The use of Zenaro Syrup may change function of the kidneys. If you have a kidney disease, the functioning of your kidneys should be monitored regularly.

Use when Pregnant

Zenaro should be used only when required in patients who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

If Breastfeeding

Zenaro Syrup is not safe for use in women who are breastfeeding. If you are breastfeeding, discuss with your doctor if you should either discontinue breastfeeding, or stop using this medicine during this period. This medicine may pass into breast milk and hence use in mothers who breastfeed is not recommended.

If trying to Conceive

It is not known if this medicine is safe for use in women who are conceiving. Consult with your doctor before you use Zenaro.

Alcohol

Avoid drinking alcohol with Zenaro. Consumption of alcohol may cause with Zenaro leads to a reduction in alertness and can cause accidents if you are driving, operating any machine, or any other activity that requires full mental awareness.

Dizziness

Zenaro can make you feel sleepy. Be careful, especially while driving, while using heavy machinery, or when doing any activity that needs you to be completely alert. The consumption of alcohol with Zenaro can worsen the sleepiness.

Warnings

Hazardous Occupations

Interactions with Zenaro

Zenaro Syrup interacts with central nervous system depressants which are used to slow down the brain activities. Using Zenaro with brain depressants may lead to a greater reduction in mental awareness.

Antiviral Drugs

There may be an interaction of Zenaro with ritonavir, which is used to treat HIV infections. Ritonavir decreases the removal of Zenaro from the body. This can increase the effects of Zenaro on the body.

Xanthine Derivatives

Zenaro Syrup may interact with theophylline, which is used to treat asthma and other lung related problems. Theophylline reduces the removal of Zenaro from the body. This can increase the effects of Zenaro on the bidy.

Antihistamines

Special instructions need to be followed while taking this medicine along with cetrizine, which is used to treat allergies. Zenaro increases the effects of cetrizine on the body.

Allergy

This medicine should not be in patients who are allergic to it. Patients may have an increased risk of skin rash induced by the severe allergic reaction. These patients may have the following symptoms if they use this medicine:

  • life-threatening allergic reaction known as anaphylactic shock

End-Stage Kidney Disease

This medicine should not be used in patients with end-stage kidney disease.

Kidney Diseases

This medicine should not be used in children who have kidney disease.

Family History of Galactose Intolerance

This medicine should not be used by patients who have a family history of galactose intolerance.

Lapp Lactase Deficiency

This medicine should not be used by patients with Lapp lactase deficiency.

Glucose-Galactose Absorption Issues

This medicine is should not be used by patients who have problems with glucose-galactose absorption.

Expired Medication

Taking a single dose of expired Zenaro is unlikely to cause a side-effect. However, please discuss with your doctor or pharmacist, if you feel unwell or sick. An expired medicine may become ineffective in treating your prescribed conditions. To be on the safe side, it is important not to use an expired drug. You are much safer by always keeping a fresh supply of unexpired medicines.

Safe Disposal of Medication

  • If there are disposal instructions on the package, please follow the instructions.
  • If there are medicine take-back programs in your country, you should contact the respective authority to arrange for the disposal of the medicine. For example, in the USA, the Drug Enforcement Administration regularly hosts National Prescription Drug Take-Back events.
  • If there are no take-back programs, mix the medicine with dirt and place them in a sealed plastic bag. Throw the plastic bag in your household trash. Separately, remove all personal information including the prescription label from the medicine packaging and then dispose off the container.
