Using Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are all fairly similar. But there are a couple of differences that you might want to consider when using these different social media platforms. For example, with Facebook, it's really good for all types of posts. It's a great starting point, if you haven't had a lot of experience with social media, to connect with friends and family and to kind of get your message out in a little bit less of a pressure filled format. Some of the rules of thumb for Facebook, keep it to about 80 characters or less. You don't need to use hashtags with Facebook, but you can it's it's not a problem.

If you do it's just not really necessary. And visuals of course, are very important to support your message as the visuals are in every form of social media posting that we've discussed in this class so far. So again, Facebook, great starting point for friends and family 80 characters or less. Don't forget your visual hashtags. Not necessary. But if you are cross posting, you can use them.

Twitter is a great platform for networking and for reaching a broader market. You can find a lot of people that will follow you back on Twitter if you are in the same category as them. For instance, if you're in finance or if you're a writer, if you're in some form of education, you can really connect well with people that are in that same field. Check out what's trending on the left of the screen. When you're on Twitter. You can use those relevant hashtags if you want to get more engagement.

Keep it to about 70 to 100 characters use one or two relevant hashtags and don't forget that visual image again to keep it interesting. Twitter also likes little short video clips as seen in the Lotus candles video. Previously, Instagram has a little bit of a different vibe. It's more visual, a little more playful. You can let your image or your video do the talking for you on Instagram. Keep it to about less than 125 characters and use up to 11 relevant hashtags, it's important to note that keeping your post short will encourage your audience to read it.

And again, while hashtags aren't necessary on Facebook, a few can be helpful in Twitter. But using up to about 11 seems to be the magic number for Instagram. Also, with Instagram, if you hashtag something and somebody searches under that hashtag, your posts may come up. So it's kind of like a digital filing system that Instagram uses to keep your posts organized. So and again, you don't have to necessarily worry about all these little nuances between the different platforms as long as you're following the formula, making sure you're using the grab, giving information, the visual image and the action step. Those are really the best ways to engage your audience, and to get the most out of your social media posts.
