Identify your options when making many decisions, there are options available. For example, if you are purchasing a home, buying a car or taking a vacation, there are always options available. Also, if you're going back to school or starting a business, there are many options. Doing the proper research and studying the options carefully is important. The more important the decision, the more time should be invested in identifying and investigating those options. For example, purchasing a washer shouldn't take as much time as investigating your options as purchasing a car.
Purchasing a car shouldn't take as much time and energy as buying a house. Although this is common sense, it frequently isn't followed. The reasons are as follows. First, many people make their decisions based on their emotions and back up their feelings with a little bit of research. And some people don't do any research at all. This is even the case for large decisions.
Sometimes things work out okay? However, doing the right research biases good decisions strongly in your favor. Secondly, when it comes to research, we naturally gravitate to investigating things that are fun. For example, it's a lot more fun researching a cool vacation than doing the proper research for purchasing a car that we feel pressure to get. However, the car will be a larger part of our life than our vacation and usually takes a much bigger bite out of our budget. This isn't to say that vacations aren't important.
They are vacations, recharge our batteries, and are a great time to spend with family and friends. However, the point is to also spend time investigating those things in our everyday life. That will lead to great decisions, less stress, more money, and a better life in general. Good decision making is all about using all your logic, knowledge, common sense and feelings, to get the best decisions that you will be happy with now and later.
