  • How effective are you at working with other people in small groups or in larger teams?

  • How good are you at communicating and building effective relationships?

The increasing complexity of teamwork in the 21st century means that teams are unlikely to achieve superior performance through chance or the skills of an effective team leader.  What matters is how the team manages the emotional climate under which they are working.

This course is about proactively working together with others in ways that will help you to communicate more efficiently as you engage with each other to bring value to your company and your customers. In addition, the skills, processes, and tools taught in this course can bring value to other aspects of your life.

Good team working means that you can understand how each other works together. It means that you can have an understanding of other people's strengths and limitations through the way in which they use they prefer to approach situations, their focus, and their behavior.

The course, also, covers working with the emotions experienced during change and ways to develop resilience in individuals, teams, and organizations.

Some disagreement and conflict will be inevitable as this is where learning, creativity, and understanding occurs.  It is not that conflict occurs that is the issue, it is how it is managed by the individuals involved, the team and the leader.

The course is based around the outer world component of emotional intelligence focusing on empathy and social skills.

This course is a standalone course for anyone interested in understanding how to work more effectively with others within teams.  It complements other courses that explore emotional intelligence in more depth.

The course covers the DISC model looking at the behaviors of Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Compliance and how these work together in teams. You get the opportunity to look at the four behavioral styles and how you can work better with others who have a different style to your own.

You'll receive all the information that you need and will be coached using loads of practical hints that you can use straight away.

The course is made up of a series of lectures and contains comprehensive course notes. There are a series of interactive exercises that involve some activity with other people and some reflection.

Requirements

  • You should have an interest and understanding of emotional intelligence but no prior knowledge and experience are needed to benefit from the course.
  • An interest in how interactions with other people work and how to build them more effectively.
  • Keenness to learn about behavioral styles based on DISC (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Compliance).

Hi.  I'm Robin Hills and it is my intention to provide you with the best on-line courses on emotional intelligence in business.  I am not teaching any other types of course as I am a specialist in emotional intelligence and it is the focus of my business.

I am an emotional intelligence coach, trainer and facilitator with over 35 years' business and commercial experience.  I provide knowledge and skills that help people understand themselves and others better.

My career began with the pharmaceutical industry on the commercial side and worked in the London teaching hospitals for over ten years.  My current work takes me into small start-ups through to large corporate multi-nationals and into the Public Sector with financial institutions, government departments and health departments, as well as charities.  This provides me a practical understanding of how emotional intelligence works and can be applied in the real world, which enables me to keep up to date with relevant issues.

I'm a registered practitioner with the British Psychological Society and sit on the NW committee of the Association for Business Psychology.

My articles and papers on resilience have been published in international books and journals.

My company is Ei4Change (Emotional Intelligence 4 Change) - recognised nationally and internationally as specialists with expertise in training, personal development and coaching focusing on emotional intelligence, positive psychology and neuroscience in the workplace. Our emotional intelligence programmes by ILM - the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Over the last few years, I have delivered workshops at global emotional intelligence and neuroscience conferences.  These have been held at Harvard University, at University of Manchester, in Cape Town, the Middle East and India.

I am the author of

- The Authority Guide to Emotional Resilience: Strategies to weather storms and manage stress in the workplace (published May 2016)

- The Authority Guide to Behaviour in Business: How to build successful and powerful relationships (published November 2017)

Both are available on Amazon.

Teaching emotional intelligence skills is a challenge at the best of times so these courses require you to take some ACTION and put into practice what you have learnt.  I am here to support and guide you.

I hope you enjoy working to develop your resilience and your emotional intelligence and I look forward to working with you.
