So in this course, I'm going to quickly help you figure out what a good startup idea is all about. Let's get going.

It certainly sounds simple. The best starting point was good ideas where you have to begin. Yet there's a lot that goes into a good idea. Your first thoughts are going to change as you dwell more and more on the initial idea, I suppose the already have. Changes are going to happen weekly, as you imagine further how the idea could become a real startup. And after that, it will begin to change in the shape of your mind.

That's when you'll be able to respond to your friends requests. Tell me about your startup idea. It's certainly Key startup question. And it's one that has to be dug into to get ready to respond as you get farther and farther into the idea. I've got some tips on how to do that in the quick courses at start one now calm. Right now let's prepare your first response.

Let's begin by answering some simple questions. These are ones used by serial entrepreneurs every day, each time they get an idea for fresh new business. They certainly start with the question, what is your idea all about? quick, short, simple answer, please. And then how will you make money? Finally, if it's such a good idea, Why is no one else doing it?

I suggest right now that you pause this video, instantly respond verbally to each question and then return and we'll progress further. Give it a try right now. Okay, now you're back. You see the questions begin to get that good mind of yours. Thinking even more. That's good.

You're already advancing your cool idea. This has begun a process common to startups. Think of it as your idea begins like a lump of clay. And a skilled sculptor is beginning to give it shape, making changes every day until it emerges as a beautiful statue. By the time you're finished with this process, you will have reached a well crafted idea for a great business. Now for three more simple questions, these begin to add emotions into your idea.

What is compelling to your ideal customer, those potential people you want eagerly to purchase your product? How many are there and if they all bought one, how large would the market be in dollars? And who are your competitors going to be similar ones direct competitors, maybe once again, I suggest you put the video in pause, immediately try your responses ready. Okay, you're back. As you can see now your initial idea is becoming more powerful, especially because it is stimulating to your ideal customer. finding out what is emotionally compelling to your ideal customer is the secret to success for a startup.

To do so, in the near future, it will be wise to have a talk to real people do a couple of one on one surveys, watching their body language and listening carefully. When you know what gets your targeted customers excited, you'll feel the power of your idea growing significantly. And you will also become personally very excited. Your work is aimed at figuring out why people will be eager to purchase what you're offering then They'll be eager to reach for their credit cards and tweet to all their friends about your cool product. Avoid the dreaded er words like quicker, faster and better because if a startup begins with a product that's just quicker, faster and better, frankly, it will end up struggling to make proc progress. It just is not differentiated enough or powerful enough.

Those startups end up getting stuck in a squirrel cage never getting very far. And please keep your idea from being boring facts and figures are not everything. It has to be emotionally stimulating. If it's boring to people, your talk is going to stop right now. Quit, find another idea and start over. Instead, look for an idea that can become a remarkable one that can change the way people are living or doing business.

Something not done before. And that has very large potential for a number of users and cash paying customers. Begin focusing on a crisp description of who the customer is, the tighter you can get that focus from among the herd, the more powerful your idea will become. Whether industrial or consumer, your idea needs a lot of focus to succeed. So who exactly is your customer? Can you describe that person or that business right now?

And how many of them are there for you to approach to sell to? A good idea should have a lot of them. So start by guessing how many concentrate on the zeros the first digit is not important. How big could your idea become is what we're driving at And how much do you think they would pay for your product? You could learn a lot by asking that question of a couple of friends and later doing a formal survey. You couldn't find the survey by approaching a wider range of potential customers later.

Internet consumer centric startups will have to survey two groups, one that will use the product, typically at no cost. The other is going to pay who that's the real customer. Here's one example with the advertiser being the real customer. And then a times b equals dollars of sales. estimate how many potential customers would purchase your product, multiply that times the sales price per unit and presto, you have your sales potential. I hope it's a large number because everyone Want to know how much larger idea could become?

Be ready to respond? That's going to be you, you're certainly going to ask yourself that question day after day. It's pretty exciting, isn't it? So, here's my challenge to you think about how you could expand your sales beyond your first thoughts. These are some examples, expand beyond your borders, or move over to a larger related market segment. climbed to a large product area much larger with more people that could use what you're going to offer.

Such thinking will generate thoughts about what to do to boost your sales potential. There are many more by now you can see we're going through a process step by step and you're encouraged to return to the prior steps and repeat the trail changing shaping your idea each step By the way, several words describe what's going on. And they all mean the same thing about what is happening. You begin with an idea, you modify it, and you end up with something very different than what you planned on. That's why the sculpting metaphor fits so well. That lump of clay that gets shaped over time into something beautiful.

As you progress, you'll begin to invent additional products to sell. That will transform your idea into a business selling several products, a family of new things eagerly sought after by a lot of potential customers. As you continue to progress, modifying your idea changing and shifting, please keep the process and adventure. It will always have a lot of unknowns. You just won't have the answers. And there will be lots of risk.

Startups are full of risk. And a personal treasure will be found along the way, a lot more than wealth. And very importantly, keep it all a lot of fun, then it will remain a real adventure and worth doing. Well, what should you do next? return to where we started and go through it again. That's how real veterans of startups do it.

It's how they became successful. Continue to improve your responses to the questions. That's how do you transform an idea into a good idea to begin a real startup? Congratulations, you finished the course on the starting idea. Well, this is a fresh idea once still, in that sharp mind of yours. start documenting your thoughts early thoughts are often the most creative, and I certainly wish you the best and your adventure.

I have other things that can help you along the way, especially for people in a hurry like you. You'll find other quick courses that start when now calm. I'll look for you there. That's where I'm headed right now.
