From this video on we are going to start with some basic commands. So first of all, we are going to perform these navigation commands in this video. Okay, so I have logged into a user that I have created. I am not logged in as the root user. Now let's open terminal. So as you can see, I have logged in as the user Aakash.

Okay, so let's get started. So the first navigation command here is LS. And this command lists all the directories and files that are there in the folder that you are in. So currently, we are inside The home directory. So, here as you can see, this is the home directory and these are all the files that are there in the home directory and those are listed here. So, this is the use of LS to list directories and you can use different options with these commands.

So, let me show you that. So, if you want to know the options for any command, then you just have to write the command then space, double dash and help you can use this with any command and press Enter. And you will see that you will be shown with this whole list of options now this dash A B and all that These are known as options and you can use these with your command. So for example, if we take any option like this one that is dash and smaller, now this will use a long listing format. So let's see. So now I'm going to write ls space dash L. So as you can see, the long listing format means it is going to show the permissions for this file that means the read write and execute permissions.

And this is going to show the user so it is going to show these all details for all the files and directories that are there in the directory. So the next command is CD. Now CD stands for change directory means if you want to go from one directory to another, then you can do that using Siri. So now I want to change my directory that is home. So currently I'm in home directory and I want to go into the documents directory. So I'm going to write document.

Now in Linux or in any other operating system, you just have to specify some words of the directory that you want. And you can just press tab, and it will be auto completed. So I want to go into documents. So I've specified that and Enter. And there I am in the documents directory. So let's use the command ls to list all the files and directories that are there in the Documents folder.

So there's nothing listed here. That means there is nothing in this Documents folder. Now what if I want to go on Or go back to the directory that I was in that was the home directory. So we can do that using cd space double dot, and enter. So I'm back to the directory that I am. So if I do LS and I'm back into my home directory and that is another command that is cd space slash Enter.

Now, if you notice change here, then you will see that here, there was a tilde sign now it is a slash sign. Now the tilde sign represented the home directory and the slash sign in Linux represents the root directory. So we are right now in the root directory. So let me just list the files and directories here. So as you can see, it is different from From here, so, we have all the folders etc boot media home. So, we were in home directory and this is the directory where all your files and all your pictures music whatever that is it is going to be stored here.

So, this was the directory that we were and this is the root directory. So, this is how you can go to root directory and if you want to come back onto home directory, then you can do this that is cd space home and you will be in the home directory else you can do this if you want to change the directory, then you have to do cd space and the tilde sign and as you can see here, so this is how you can go on to Home Directory. Now there is another command that is v w d. Now pwd stands for print working directory. That means this will print the current working directories whole path. So the current working directory this path here is home Aakash. So we are in home and our cache.

Now let me change the directory here. And let's know right? pW D. So it just shows slash that means the root directory. So it is just going to print the whole path of the current working directory that you are in. So these were some basic navigation commands. And if you want to use any options that You can search them by just writing double dash help and you will be shown with the options that you can use with that specific command.

So these were all the navigation commands
