My name is Evgeniy Stasenko, I am an artist from Moscow living in Barcelona. In Barcelona, I organize sketching workshops for tourists. We are sketching the architectural landmarks including such a complex building as Sagrada Familia. Most of my students have zero o close to zero drawing skills, but all of them create lovely looking sketches starting from the first lesson. The secret is in step-by-step instructions, live demonstration and some tricks and hints explained in the process.
Traditionally in the process of drawing all the measuring have to be done with a pencil. But it requires some skills, it is very inconvenient for beginners. So, I offer instruction on the manufacturing of little measuring tool for sketching. This tool saves a lot of your time and helps to avoid unnecessary work and trouble.
We will make a preparatory sketch with all the measuring and schematics work using our little measuring tool for sketching. For our first sketch, we use very simple shaped building in a frontal position. We choose a position which allows us to avoid any kind of linear perspective in our sketch.
We will make our sketch using the preparatory work done before. On this step, we'll try to avoid measuring and give more job to our eyes. Here starts an artistic part of our sketch, we do not imitate nature - we create our own version of the landscape. I'll show you how to use shading in a sketch to give to our drawing some depth and volume. We will discover how deep into detailing we should go and how and when we decide it is ‘enough’ for our sketch.

Speaking of human figure it is one of the most complicated objects to draw. But in a landscape, the human figure is more like decoration. And the size of the human figure in our sketch is so small that we can draw it with a couple of lines. Drawing cars in a sketch of small size is an easy task too if we draw them in the same manner as human figures with a couple of lines only. So, let's try an easy way to draw cars and human figures in a sketch.

Hello, my name is Evgeniy Stasenko. I am an artist from Moscow now living in Barcelona. I graduated from Moscow Pedagogical University, Fine Arts & Graphic Department and have practiced both fine arts and teaching ever since, for more than 30 years by now.

As a teacher, I have always aimed at creating an integral system, a consistent range of methods that would allow me to effectively teach drawing and painting to any person regardless of skills. These methods come as the result of experience; they are tested in practice and proven to give fast results. As well, I have extensive experience in creating specific short-term courses, not to mention fine art workshops, etc.

I wrote some textbooks. “The Art School” and a course of three books on Developing Drawing for primary aged kids are available only in Russian now. My book "Composition of a Picture: Theory and Exercises" is available on Amazon both in Russian and in English. The subject of artistic composition given in a clear and logical way – it is really useful. This theory is unknown outside Russia and English translation helps to improve the situation.

In 1994 I got an award of the All-Russia Exhibition Center for teaching.

In 2006 my biography was published in the encyclopedia Who is Who in Russia.

In 2015 I moved to Spain.
