Okay, this is the shoulder rest part two, that's going to be really important that you have a shoulder rest. There's lots of options. Don't play with shoulder rest, but I find for most beginners or people starting out for the first time that a shoulder rest is one of your best friends. Because if I don't have my shoulder rest, and I try to have my violin up, try to play it. I hope I hold it or the the button or the the N peg in here, my middle of my neck, and I'm holding it by that little part increase in my knuckle and bring it up. And I take my hand away, the violin kind of drops.

And so what happens is I feel like most people feel like that they have to hold the violin with their hand for to stop it from dropping and then again kind of gets in the way Have you playing your instrument where if you had your shoulder so let me put this little quick hand your shoulder rest on and you were ready to play. And for some reason you needed to flip the page or you need to do something with your hands. It simply would just sit there suspended in air because you have your shoulder rest on. So it's going to be super important to get one if you don't have have one, get one. Again, I I recommend the two different two different ones akun shoulder rests, the one that I have Wolf, but they also make lots of different ones. So it's not that I'm recommending these two, they're just cheap ones that work really well.

But really, I'm a big fan of working with what works for you. So going into a shop getting fitted for a shoulder rest and the one that feels The best to you isn't a spoon or a wolf, shoulder rest, and that's the one you should get because it makes you feel the best. Okay. So, once we have this up here, we're going to get our crease and touch it to the bottom of the violin. And we're going to touch it to on our neck of our violin is do you see this little raised piece of nut, so raise piece of wood and call a nut. We're going to go about one inch in so about one inch in and that's where our knuckle is going to be.

So we're not going to make sure that it's not all the way up here but not all the way back here but about a one inch in. And once we have the 45 degree angle this way, so not forward, not a 90 degree angle this way but halfway in between And we have our hand in position, we should be holding our violin correctly. Now, if I back up you can see that my, my elbow is dropped like a pendulum. So what I mean by a pendulum, you ever see a pendulum swing? Yeah, its total resting point is just straight down. And that's the same way that we want our elbow to be.

So we want to make sure that our elbow isn't curled in. It's not out like a chicken link, but it's just simply hanging down straight. Making sure that rest is nice and straight is that curl one way or the other. It's also not going one way or the other. So it's nice and straight this way too. Now we're holding our violin critically
