Okay, now we're good with our data model, the last step for us is to create our visualization. So let me just hover here, right, see the report, and select it. And now this is where the fun part begins. We're going to be creating a column chart that has sales and first name, so which means that we want a list of people. And then we have the sales numbers displayed in a column chart. And then the next one is we want to create a simple pie chart that shows the number of sales like the total amount of sales figures, okay?

And categorized by year. Okay, so what we're going to be doing right now is let me just grab over in sales, right? And salesperson, what we want to do is get the first name, right. Okay, so once we drag this over here, it just defaulted to a table visualization. That's fine. Okay.

So we'll just get the fields ready first. So you want the first name and then we want the Sales figure. So let me just drag this over here. Okay. And this is what we have so far. So this is the amount of sales that Brian did that Homer did.

JOHN did, Kyle did, right. And once we're good with this one, it looks good, but it's still not a column chart. So what I'll do is, let me just go over here. Let's select the clustered column chart. Once you select this, and now you have your first column chart, and let me just expand this so you can see it bigger. Okay, and this is the column chart that we have.

And just like that, okay, you were able to create that. And if you notice, this is something that's pretty cool as well. We created a chart that contains data or uses data from two separate tables. If you notice we got it from the first name, right of sales person, and we got the sales numbers of the sales table. And if we were to be working with this original spreadsheet over here, we won't be crazy. To start pretty easy, because we wouldn't know what is the name of salesperson ID number four, for example, what is the name of sales ID, person number six, we would end up with a chart that has IDs of salesperson and the total sales numbers of that, which is not that exactly readable.

But thanks to our data model that we did a while ago, we were able to establish a relationship between the two of them, and Power BI was intelligent enough to understand that relationship. So which is why once we dragged the first name, there was no need for us to involve ourselves with using the salesperson ID, we could just drag the first name and then drag the sales numbers and it works perfectly fine. Okay, and now let's work on our next chart, which is the pie chart. So let me just select the pie chart here. So we can actually click first and add a blank chart. Okay, now, let's work on getting to sales numbers by year so I'll be Here we have the year right?

This is the new column that we created and extracted from the order date. So let me just grab year over here, okay in our legend, and then I'll grab the sales into our values section, just like that. Now we have our pie chart of the sales figures, okay, you can even hover and check the actual values if you're curious. Right? Okay, so which means it's actually 2013 with the highest percentage of sales. And one thing that I wanted to stress is the interactivity of the charts.

Because if we select Brian, for example, over here, it shows you on the water step mount, right, that Brian has sold in 2012. Okay, so that's really cool. Because if you do for the other people as well, the values change, and it's very interactive, it knows on which values or which charts are related to one another, and it updates accordingly. So for example, if we select 2013 Then it shows you the sales figures off each individual salesperson in 2013. So it's able to filter it for you, because you've selected a specific section of the pie chart. So that's really cool.

And for our part, no additional action was done right. We just tracked and created the column chart, which is tracked and created the pie chart, but there was no specific setting, right that we did to be able to enable this interactivity. So look forward to creating more complicated reports like this, and you will be fascinated on what you can do with it.
