The first verse of hideaway, let me play it all the way through one time and then we'll, we'll take it apart. So, what I'm playing there, I'm not throwing in the bass, you'll hear some guys play it like this, which you can do. But if you watch Freddie King, play it on the beat, and if you listen to the original recording, he's not playing that at least I don't think he's playing that. So let's concentrate on the treble licks. So he starts out the song with that lick. Open second string and then hammer on the second fret of the second string, open first string, he's gonna slide second fret to the fourth fret on the first string.

So that first phrase like that, and then he's gonna go and do this. What I hear is the slides on that you can listen to it and see what you think. But he's playing pretty much the same thing. At that point, and then he's sliding back down, open, kind of a pull off, first string, second fret, second string, open first string, so here's what we have so far, first lick. Like that. And then he's gonna play this leading into the four or the eight core What I'm doing is leading in with an open second string.

And then I'm hammering on the second fret of the second string. Open first string, just play it back. So the whole solo so far right there, the song is going to go to the fore, and he kind of lays out a little bit and comes in with it. Which we did before. Same thing, and then as the song goes to the five, he's gonna do this same lick we played earlier, open second string. And then he's gonna go here.

Let's just play that previous leg. Okay. So what we're doing is really playing over the five or the B 71233 times on the second fret of the first string slide again to the fourth fret first string, second fret first string to the second fret of the second string, so the whole thing and then we're going to go to this again three times. Then this part is a little tricky. That's what I hear next open second string, second fret third string Open second string, and a hammer on on the first fret of the third string. So the whole thing that's what I hear this little man.

Gotta listen to it real carefully, and it sounds like that's what he's done. So, one more time slowly through that part this little tricky and he does this again later in the song. And then the next part to wrap up the first verse of hideaway, he's gonna do one of these, he turn around typical country blues type thing in the key of E, but he's playing an open first string, third fret of the second string. And then this doubles where I'm sliding, I've got my first finger on the second fret of the second stick second finger on the third fret of the third string, sliding the second finger to the fourth fret of the third string. And then picking the second fret, I'm sorry, the second string at the third fret. So it's like this open first string, second fret third string, second fret fourth string.

So the whole thing so far, an open first string that I hear the open second string, second fret of the third string. I don't know how he did this, did he make a beak or excuse me a beat cord shake. Just pick the second and third strings in there. So like this Or do they just put one finger down on the third fret, second fret of the third string. I don't know, it's easier for me just to make the B chord shape. And then pick the second string, third string, like that.

So the whole lick slowly. There we go. This part here. Getting that open first, right? That's a little unusual usually do something like this. But I think I hear open first string like that, and you hear it again.

And then wrap it up with the B seventh chord. So that is the first verse of Freddy kings hideaway.
