Hello, everybody. Welcome to this C one advanced CA, writing paper video course. In this video lesson, I'm going to introduce you to part two of the writing P. But before we look at that, let's remind ourselves about the general format of the writing paper. So the writing paper is 90 minutes long. And it consists of two parts. Part one is an essay, where you only get given one question that you have to answer.

And it's about 220 to 260 words that you need to write. In part two, you get given three questions, but you only answer one of them. And the three questions could be asking you to write a letter or an email or a proposal A report review. So there are five options, but you only get given three questions and you only need to answer one question. And again, it's about 220 to 260 words that you need to write for part two. So how long should you spend on Part Two?

I recommend that you spend 45 minutes because the writing paper in total is 90 minutes. So you should spend 45 minutes on the essay 45 minutes on part two. You should take five minutes to plan your essay in the beginning. Use this time wisely. In this time, you should think to yourself how am I going to structure my essay Am I going to say arguments for arguments against you should use this time wisely. You should take five minutes to plan your writing.

Think about the flow of your writing, how will the paragraphs and the main points in your writing link together and in what order will you put them should also take five minutes at the end of your writing to check your work. Make sure you haven't made any silly spelling mistakes, or you haven't accidentally put punctuation in the wrong place. Or that you use the correct subjects and the verbs so that they agree with one another. These are all simple mistakes that you can correct by reading over your work. And it's really, really frustrating when a student makes these mistakes. They lose marks and they know how to correct them.

That could be the difference between passing and failing. The C one advanced exam So that then leaves 35 minutes to write your answers. And how many options can you choose from in part two, you have three options, three questions, but you only write an answer to one of them. You should write in pen and you can make alterations. You can make changes and put a line through your work, who don't like it, but you should try to make your writing as neat and eligible as possible. If you write neatly, it will give a good impression to the examiner.

The examiners mind they will mark you more favorably than if you have messy handwriting, which is hard to read to make sure you write nice and neat and easy for the examiner to read. Also, the style of your writing is improved. This will depend on which question you choose. If you're writing a report or a proposal or view, the style will be different. Finally, you have your question. So part two on the question paper, you need to write your answers on a separate answer sheet.

So have a question paper but write your answer on a separate partition. The marking criteria are the same as for part one. Those are content, communicative achievement, organization, and language. And in an earlier video lesson in this video course, we looked at the marking criteria in more detail. So if you can't remember, I advise you to go back and to have a look at that list. So you can understand exactly what the examiners are looking for each of these four marking criteria.

I also recommend that if you haven't looked at this assessment scale already, then you should pause this video and type in this web address and your internet browser. For example, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox or Safari, etc. and turn to page 36, where you can find an assessment scale. And on this assessment scale, you will see what the examiners want for each of the four marking criteria in order for you to get the highest mark, which is a five on the scale, so five is very good and zero is very bad. You can see here, what you need to do in order to get top marks for each of the four marking criteria. So pause this video now and have a read of this if you haven't done already.

When you've done that, press play. Okay, so I hope you found that useful. And in the next video lesson, we are going to be focusing in more detail on how to complete the email writing part two. So we will look at some email question and answer to the email. I'm going to let you critique the email answer. We'll look at some advice for writing emails.

We'll also correct some mistakes from the email and have a look at some final tips for writing an email. So I look forward to seeing you in the next lesson. Bye
