Now for those who have used After Effects before, this should be easy as neguin would like to say it easy peasy lemon squeezy. Otherwise, for those who are completely new to both software in general, both A and nuke allow you to apply simple to complex effects depending on how you create a combinations of effects. Let's first talk about where to find those effects we keep talking about. So using all files from our client, let's bring them into After Effects as well. Now I already went ahead of myself and did that in a previous lesson. But if you have not, you simply double click in the Projects tab or just drag and drop your files into the Projects tab.

Now an after effects the effects panel right here. It might be different if you're using a different version of After Effects. The effects panel right here is your friend. How this works is that you have to somewhat know what you are searching for or look under the categories as listed right here. maximize my screen, close this random guy. I'm going to create a new layer based on David H, just click on this layer, drag and drop over this icon right here, let it go.

Gonna actually move this back here, just click, press and hold, drag it and drop it right here. Now again, what you have to do basically is drag and drop. So let's just actually, for example, bring in a curves effect, and I'm just going to type curves. To see that bring up this color correction category curves. I'm just going to drag and drop it right on top of this David eight layer. And you can see that this immediately opens up the effects controls right here.

And all I have to do basically is control this right here. So I'm actually going to make this interesting when they go to projects bring the apple in, puts it on top of this David layer. And then I'm actually going to instead of applying curves on David layer, I'm going to apply it on the apple layer so drag and drop on the apple layer. Now in new the effects improve sets pedal in After Effects is actually anywhere it exists kind of like a omnipresent God in the node graph of nuke. So how does once again, it's you also have to know the names, or go through the tabs right here, as you can see for the different categories for your nodes. But very quickly, in order to do that very easily, just go to your non graph, hit tab.

And then you can actually choose effects that you want if you know the name, or you can search for it as well. So let's actually set this up to what we've similarly done in After Effects. So I'm just going to find my David and my apple data arranged very nicely. I'm going to select my apple layer, hit tab. And when I do this with a note select that is basically saying that I want this to be affected by the note I'm going to choose. So I'm going to search for the equivalent of curves in nuke is kind of lookup Don't ask me why.

That's just how it is. Enter. You can see that immediately connects to that No dad just selected. Now in order to view it, you basically have to click on this node Hit again on another key pet all the numbers above your letters on your keyboard, one, two or three to view them using different inputs of the viewer. So very quickly, I'm also going to do the same thing right here. Kind of select a point just to kind of quickly make an adjustment that you can see that's very obvious.

Then you go. In my other new cars are go through what each category of notes do, and some stuff affects but for now simply follow along as a beginner to nuke entirely. Basically have your color lookup notes set up to be applied to this apple. Now in the end, both AMD and new offer their own unique set of effects. And generally, you can achieve the same result depending on how you adjust and combine your effects combinations. Again, there are different capabilities provided by nuke, all you have to do is hit tab and pick up the tab.

Get it pick up the tab Nevermind. So anyway, for more information on the nodes, I suggest you head to the link attached to this lesson for the node Reference Guide. Okay, now that we know the basics of where to find the effects and how to apply them, let's move on to basic effects and notes in both A and nuke and carry on working on our commissioned project.
