Hey guys, welcome back. So in this video, we're going to discuss another way to interact with users, which is using input boxes. So an input box is basically a function that you can use to display an input box like this, okay to prompt the user to enter some information, okay? And then you can capture that information and do stuff with it. Like you can get an input box and ask a user for his name, for example, and then I'll get another one and ask him for his age, and so on and so forth. You can capture information and then do stuff with it.
Okay. So the main elements of an input box actually has like seven inputs, okay. However, the there are three main inputs that most of the users use, which is the prompt and the title and the default, the expose and wipe pose and help file on contacts. You probably won't be using those especially the help file and context okay because they are obsolete inputs, okay just like the ones in the on the message box the exposing white pose, they basically indicate the position of the input box on the screen the expose is basically how many trips which is basically a unit of length that is one over 1440 of an inch is the input box, the left edge of the input box from the left edge of the screen and the white pause is how many trips is the upper edge of the input box from the upper edge of the screen so basically helps you locate an input box somewhere on the screen.
Okay You can experiment with the numbers on that and you can find the most convenient location for you however by defaults is it is put in In the center of the screen, so it's centered horizontally on the screen. And probably this is where you would want it anyway. So you won't be using those four inputs, we will focus on those three inputs there the problem and the title and the default. So the prompt is basically the main message that you're trying to convey to the user, or the main question or what you're asking the user to do. Okay, so here, this prompt says, What is your name? So this is what you're asking the user for.
And the title is basically the title for your input box here. Okay, this this one, I titled it name, you can type anything. And also there is the default input, which is basically a default value that would be entered in the input box if the user does not enter anything, okay. And actually This appears as well, on the input box in the field where the user should enter data. So you could use that as a guide for the user as well. Like, you know, when the input box appears, you as you will see this value here, the default value will appear for the user.
So you can use it as a guide on what the user what you want the user to do. Okay? So this could help the user, you know, understand what you want from this input box, like here, I'm writing Please enter your name here. Okay. And then when when the user actually clicks on that, all this will be deleted and then the user will be allowed to enter whatever he wants to enter.
