Solving problems in a group is a tremendous opportunity to find unconventional solutions and reach a higher level of collaboration. Yet, teams are often challenged to come to good, consistent, and sustainable decisions together. It is possible when the team has awareness and process in place to go through the decision-making exercise.

In this training, we lay out the process, and offer tools and techniques that can help you guide your team through defining the problem you need to solve, coming up with possible solutions, and choosing the best solution in a collaborative approach.

The course is suitable for team and project managers, Scrum Masters, Agile facilitators, as well as teams that want to improve their decision-making capabilities.

What will you learn in this course?

  • Overcome some of the most common challenges in group decision making.
  • Choose appropriate decision-making model based on the needed decision and context.
  • Identify when collective decision making is appropriate (based on the Vroom-Yetton-Jago model).
  • Structure of the decision-making process.
  • Perceive decision making as a process, not a single act, manage it, and improve it accordingly.
  • Use specific techniques, such as decision matrix, five why's, coaching wheels, stepladder, Cartesian questions, etc.
  • Address uncertainty in the decision-making process.
  • Facilitate a group decision-making process.

Zornitsa Nikolova is a co-founder and managing partner of Leanify Ltd. – a company focused on Lean and Agile training, mentoring, and coaching. Zornitsa has an extensive experience in software product development both in large enterprises and at startups. Currently, she works as a trainer and a coach with companies and individuals who are looking to apply agile approaches to product development. In addition to her consulting practice, Zornitsa is engaging with startups as a co-founder and mentor. She teaches classes in Agile project and product management at the New Bulgarian University and VUZF in Bulgaria. 
Before her career as a trainer and coach, she worked at SAP as a development manager and before that as a Product Owner. Zornitsa holds an MA in International Relations, EMBA from Cotrugli Business School, and she is a ISPMA Certified SPM, CSPO, PSPO, PSM, and an Associated Certified Coach (with the International Coach Federation).
