Occupational therapists are the doctors trained in treating ill, disabled or injured patients of all ages by the therapeutic use of everyday activities. They help patients improve, recover, develop, as well as maintain the skills needed for working and daily living. Therapists teach these patients how to use suitable adaptive equipment, such as wheelchairs, leg braces, and eating aids, which help them perform a number of daily tasks. They also work with children in educational settings by evaluating disabled children’s abilities, adjusting classroom things to benefit children with disabilities, and also helping children engage in school activities.
