Use of Lipona in Diabetic Patients
The patients with fasting glucose levels in between 5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L, body mass index more than 30kg/m2, high levels of
triglycerides and high blood pressure conditions are at an increased risk when using this medicine. Careful monitoring is required in such patients.
Galactose Intolerance or Lapp Lactase Deficiency
Avoid the use of this medicine in patients with family history of galactose intolerance or Lapp lactase deficiency.
Skeletal Muscle Defects
Use of this medicine may lead to increased risk of muscle
pain, inflammation of the muscles and damaging of skeletal muscles. Such patients may have an increased risk of kidney failure. Discontinue the use of
Lipona for the treatment of muscular diseases.
Abnormal Functioning of the Liver
Such patients are at an increased risk when using this medicine. These patients may have increased levels of liver transaminases enzymes. This medicine should be used only after testing the levels of liver enzymes.
Temporary Blockage of Blood Flow to the Brain
Such patients are at an increased risk when using this medicine. These patients may have an increased risk of
bleeding inside the brain due to rupturing of blood vessels (
hemorrhagic stroke). Take necessary precautions before starting this therapy.
Endocrine Dysfunctioning
These patients may have increased levels of glucose in the blood. This medicine should be used with caution in such patients.
Long-Term Therapy
The patients using
Lipona for the long term may be at increased risk. These patients may have an increased risk of interstitial lung disease which is characterized by symptoms like shortness of breath,
cough,
fever, weight loss and
fatigue. If it happens, discontinue the use of this medicine.
