I use my background in journalism to help business professionals such as engineers, environmental scientists, consultants, lawyers and accountants to be recognized for their expertise. As a result, they're able to get more of the kind of work they love to do, for clients that inspire them -- and earn what they're worth.
My training in journalism, including a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada), helps me understand the ideas behind conveying information in easily-understood form -- so I can help you do the same. My experience as a reporter and editor helps me understand how the news media work, and this helps me show you how to get your message into the media relied upon by your ideal clients.
An MBA in Marketing (University of Toronto) helps me show you how to present your ideas in terms your ideal clients will understand (generally, that's around managing risk, reducing costs, or increasing revenue).
For over 15 years, I've worked with business professionals to help them show expertise and thought leadership. I help them develop themes and topics that show that expertise -- without coming across as a sales pitch. Next, I help them find the best ways to get their ideas across -- through publishing content in niche media read by potential clients, through posts on LinkedIn, webinars, videos, infographics and other tools. In most cases, I'll help them create the content itself, whether it's a published article in a niche online or print publication, a speech, a video or other medium.
What I find is that this helps them walk taller -- they recognize that they have knowledge and expertise that is in demand, and respected by others. As well, they gain credibility with anyone considering working with them -- as a client, customer, referral source or colleague.
And I walk the talk. I've published five books on thought leadership content marketing, I've given well over a hundred presentations all over the US and Canada, I've published literally thousands of articles on my own behalf and for my clients, and I'm a frequent guest presenter on podcasts and webinars. I'm at well over 100 posts on my own blog. To learn more, see www.ThoughtLeadershipResources.com.
