Willy Minnix – Biography of an American TroubadourAs a musician, artist, writer, sound man and traveling minister, Willy Minnix has formed a unique perspective on life that has grown along with his chance to live all across America. His unique perspective on life is reflected in his works, and connects with people from all walks of life. His songs often offer a glimpse into other times and places, that carry the listener along to places they have never experienced, and sights they have never seen, often reflecting social commentary on modern life and culture. With roots in Blues, Pop, Rock and Gospel, and influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Howlin' Wolf, Greg Brown, Jerry Lee Lewis, Beach Boys, The Beatles, Andre Crouch and the Disciples, Rev. Gary Davis and Jimi Hendrix, Willy creates a unique blend of all of these elements that has been labeled “Cornfield Blues,” and has some calling it “Rural Countryside: a signpost; a mile marker from Austin, Nashville and Abbey Road.” Over the course of his career, he has had the pleasure of working with such people as Paul Shaffer from the Late Show with David Letterman, the actor Stanley Tucci, and bands such as Blues Traveler, Little Feat, Keb' Mo', and even members of the Grateful Dead, and was able to set up sound for a James Cahn and Keanu Reeves movie. His adventures have led him across a lot of great talented musicians adn actors. As a writer he has seen his work published in the Christian Sci-Fi Journal, Forsyth Family Magazine, Forsyth Women's Magazine, TakeLessons.com Blog, Ancient Origins and has had several books published as well, most notably his "Mandolin: Dead Man's Tuning" series of books. Recently he and his writing partner Greg Kemp, published their first novel "T.o.B.," a political, sci-fi thriller. And in June of 2019 his book "Lyrics and Music: Music Theory for Aspiring Songwriters," became availble at Barnes and Noble and Amazon. In addition to music and writing, Willy has also seen his art used for great and varied uses. His designs have been used for political campaigns, science fiction and fantasy publications, and have even graced the exterior of buildings in towns across the Midwest. Several of his pieces have appeared on the covers of books and magazines. Willy has released 7 albums, Near The Cross, Holy Water, Go Tell It On The Mountain (The Christmas Album), Mandolin Studies, and Tribulation Songs volumes 1 and 2, and Wayfarers, Saints and Rogues, most of which are available at his blog: http://willyminnix.blogspot.com or at http://willyminnix.bandcamp.com, as well as several live cuts from "Live at the Porterhouse Grill," in Norwood, NJ.
